Collin Bjork outdoor portrait in autumn
I am a classically-trained rhetorician, science communicator, digital writer, and global teacher. That's a peculiar entanglement, I know. But how else can I describe my scholarship, which stretches from ancient Greece to digital media? Or my teaching in New Zealand, Montenegro, the USA, and cyberspace? I have been a Fulbright Fellow, HASTAC scholar, journal editor, online instructional designer, technical writer, and even a Shakespearean actor. And I'm co-producer of the Global Rhetorics podcast. What's next?

Massey University,

new zealand

In 2019, I accepted a job as a Lecturer (TT-equivalent) at Massey University in New Zealand. From my "home base" in the School of English and Media Studies on the Manawatū campus, I collaborate with the Science faculty in teaching writing, speaking, and rhetoric to students across a wide range of scientific fields. It's a wonderfully interdisciplinary position that suits the heterogeneity of my skill sets and interests.

Note: New Zealand does not use the "tenure" system, so for my American colleagues, "Lecturer" is equivalent to tenure-track Assistant Professor.

teaching philosophy

In 2018, I won the Lieber Memorial Teaching Associate Award at Indiana University. This video offers a glimpse of my teaching philosophy.

Rhetoric of Podcasting

As part of a new undergraduate research program called ASURE, I designed and taught a new podcasting course in Fall 2018. The video below offers a depiction of this interactive--and fun--course.
